Our Philosophy
Our ingredient philosophy
Natural: We use only natural oils, waxes, butters, hydrosols and glycerites in our products. Where preservation is needed we use natural preservatives.
Plant Based: Keegan & Co. uses plant based ingredients only and suppliers who support and supply ethically and sustainably grown ingredients.
Cruelty free: Always cruelty free our products and ingredients are only ever tested on humans!
KISS: Keep it simple stupid! We only use ingredients with a purpose. No fillers, no bulking ingredients, no unnecessary additives, no nonsense. Every ingredient has been chosen to have a positive affect on your skin.
Our Design Philosophy
A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away (Antoine de Saint-Exupery)
Working as a designer the principles and methods of good design are applied by Helen every day not just in her skincare but in every aspect of her life. When it came to designing for Keegan & Co. the mantra, “Less is More” kept ringing true for Helen. What can we take away? What is essential? What do we really need? How can we achieve simplicity? How does what we consume affect our skin, our bodies and the planet?
We came up with a plan!
Use sustainable, recycled and recyclable materials in our packaging.
We use aluminium and glass both recyclable to infinity for our packaging. Our bamboo lids are biodegradable and where plastic is used it is only where essential and is fully recyclable. Labels are paper which are recyclable and removable.
Take away the unnecessary
We don’t package our products in a jar, in a box wrapped in plastic. We feel that this is unnecessary use of materials and although a cardboard box is recyclable does a jar really need that much packaging?
Don't recycle, Reuse!
We chose our bottles and jars not just because they look good filled with Keegan & Co. products but because they look good filled with anything! Our aluminium bottles and jars and glass jars with bamboo lids can be washed, labels removed and reused for travel, in the kitchen, office, home organisation…..the possibilities are endless. Our delivery boxes are packaged using strips of printer’s offcuts to protect the products. These are small strips of paper which are usually discarded. We felt, why buy more strips of paper when there are already plenty available?
Collaborate with local designers
Keegan & Co. works with local designers and craftspeople to tell our brand story. Using Irish fabric suppliers, packaging suppliers, photographers, printers and illustrators we wish to support local and keep the Irish economy healthy.
